Dear Friends:
As Israel's appalling and unremitting attack on Gaza continues in its 11th day, the 111th session of Congress meets today in its first session. In the days to come, members will likely be urged to back a resolution supporting Israel's attack on Gaza. AAPER Foundation strongly encourages all of its supporters to contact your elected representatives today to: (a) express your dismay at Israel's disproportionate attack on the people of Gaza; (b) ask them to oppose any resolution supporting Israel's attack on Gaza; (c) ask them to support an investigation into Israel's misuse of U.S.-supplied weapons; and (d) urge them to make a public statement backing an immediate cease-fire in Gaza that will end the humanitarian crisis and blockade on Gaza that have targeted Gaza's entire civilian population. You can easily contact your representative in one of four ways:
1) Take 2 minutes to sign a petition to your member of Congress.
2) Take 5 minutes to email or fax your member of Congress. (The link includes a letter, but consider spending a few minutes personalizing it to make it more effective.)
3) Take 20 minutes (10 to prepare with AAPER Foundation's talking points / 10 to talk) to call your member of Congress.
4) Take a few hours to meet with your member of Congress. Give us a call at (202) 683-8438 and we'll assist you.
The long suffering people of Gaza -- and, indeed, of all Palestine -- need our voices now more than ever. Let your voice be heard by your representative throughout this session of Congress in every Congress to follow. We may not succeed in the 111th meeting of Congress, in the 112th meeting, or even in the 113th meeting of Congress, but, eventually, with patience and persistence, in the words of the anthem of America's great Civil Rights Movement, we shall overcome. Let us begin this new session of Congress with our voices raised.
